I’ve been trying to listen to music more. I used to constantly listen to music and upload to my ipod weekly. I’m not sure when, but this slipped away. Then it became Podcasts, but for the last little while I have been listening to music again. I’m finding so many great playlists on Spotify and I can’t get enough of them. My current favorite is Pop Soul Classics, it has songs that make me want to sing and dance and forget about everything else that’s going on.
Then there comes dance. I want to move. I want to dance. I want to learn. I’ve been putting Spotify on, turning up the volume and just dancing. Dancing, in my kitchen, with nobody watching. Giving it all I’ve got, no sync, probably no rhythm, but just moving my body. It definitely works up a sweat and gets my heart rate up.
I’ve just subscribed to someone on YouTube who teaches dance. She seems to have some really good songs that she has the routine to, and is a frequent uploader so I’m hoping to check this out and try some of the routines out. I’ll be starting out with Britney Spears – I’m a slave for you I think – I loved this song, and that album when it was released.
Depending on how the dancing venture goes, and once Covid is a thing of the past, I’ll be looking in to Burlesque classes, or trying to find some classes that suit me. I’ve been interested in Burlesque since I saw a show a few years back. Topped off with the movie Burlesque, and the likes of the movie Chicago, it’s always been something that I’ve loved to learn.
So, why not join me on a daily adventure of music and dance? I’m working up to 30 mins a day, on top of a few other workouts. Even just popping Spotify on and dancing with your eyes closed for a couple of songs is bound to get your blood pumping and heart racing. It feels good to move. Cooking dinner may take a little longer due to the impromptu bursts of dance between chopping and cutting, but I promise you that it’s worth it.
Do you like to dance? What’s your favorite form?
